Nampa, Idaho is a charming city of 97,000 people. It has four distinct seasons, with temperatures ranging from the 20s to the 40s in the winter to the 60s to 90s in the summer.

Fun local activities include visiting the Canyon County Historical Nampa Train Depot Museum, seeing animals in their natural habitat at National Wildlife Refuge, enjoying fishing and a barbecue at Lake Lowell Park, and shopping for farm-fresh produce, and more at Nampa Farmers Market.

There are a lot of great k-12 schools along with the College of Western Idaho, Nampa Campus.

Here are five of the best neighborhoods in the city.

Brookdale Estates

The Brookdale Estates Subdivision neighborhood has a ton going for it, including large, affordable homes, clean streets, big front lawns, and it’s just eight minutes from downtown, so you’re always close to shopping and entertainment. It’s also just minutes from College of Western Idaho, Nampa Campus. That makes it a great spot for families with college kids who want to attend school nearby. It’s also just north of Nampa Municipal Airport.

Nearby k-12 schools include Birch Elementary School, Snake River Elementary School, West Middle School, Columbia High School, and half a dozen others.

For outdoor activities, there are two golf courses, Centennial Golf Course and Ridgecrest Golf Club, and two parks, Optimist Park and Sunset Oaks Park. There’s plenty of shopping in the area, as well. Visit the Nampa Gateway Center and Treasure Valley Marketplace to scratch that shopping itch.

Homes here are between 1,600 and 2,740 square feet, with prices ranging from $235,000 to $365,000.

Copper River Basin

Copper River Basin is a sparse suburban community that feels like it’s out in the country with plenty of open spaces mixed with walking, biking, and running paths, and trees along the streets. It’s just 20 minutes away from downtown, with all the shopping you’ll need.

Most of the new homes here are new and construction continues. Prices range from about $230,000 to $326,000.

This neighborhood is clean and family friendly. Nearby schools include Iowa Elementary School, East Valley Middle School, and Columbia High School.

Franklin Village

Another neighborhood that is conveniently located minutes away from downtown Nampa is Franklin Village. Like Brookdale Estates, it’s near College of Western Idaho, Nampa Campus. In fact, the college is just an eight-minute drive away.

This planned community contains three to five-bedroom homes. Sizes range from 1,400 to 3,592 square feet and the homes here sell for between $187,000 and $329,000.

Nearby schools include Birch Elementary School, Sage Valley Middle School, and Ridgevue High.

Since it’s close to Brookdale Estates, Franklin Village also has quick access to the airport, the nearby golf courses, and Idaho Center.

Meriwether Park

The small and charming neighborhood of Meriwether Park has wide sidewalks, homes ranging from 1,500 to 3,188 square feet, and lots of green spaces. Most of the homes here are two stories tall and range from $215,000 to $350,000 in price. This neighborhood has wide streets, big, green lawns, and a smattering of trees along the roads.

Ridgevue High School is nearby, and not much farther, you’ll find many other schools, including Willow Creek Elementary, Idaho Arts Charter School, and West Middle School. Downtown is just eleven minutes away, and Lake Lowell Park, where you can enjoy boating, fishing, and more, is about 20-minutes away.

Southern Ridge

The Southern Ridge neighborhood in Nampa is so new that few of the homes even appear on Google Maps yet. This is a great time to get  established here, and this subdivision has some nice features.

First, the home plans range from 1,612 to 2,688 square feet, with houses selling between $176,000 to $266,000. Plus, Southern Ridge is just blocks from Lake Lowell Park, which is a wonderful place to relax, have a picnic, go walking, boating, or fishing.

There are many schools nearby, including Greenhurst Elementary School, East Valley Middle School, and Columbia High School. As for things to do, play disc golf or walk the trails at Osborne Park, or head downtown, just 10 minutes away, for your shopping and entertainment needs.
